Title: The Rise of Privacy-Enhancing Technologies

Abstract: Over the past few years, systems fueled by large amounts of user data have become widespread. However, the sensitive nature of such user data has created a need to design alternative systems with a privacy-conscious focus. In this talk, I will introduce the current landscape of such privacy preserving technologies, focusing on a particularly promising one -- Multi-Party Computation (MPC). I will also present SecureNN, a state-of-the-art framework for privacy-preserving training and inference using deep learning algorithms that brings in fundamentally new techniques to this line of work.
