APTs From Unlikely Sources: Facebook’s Security Team is tasked with defending the worlds largest Social Network from attacks around the world. This talk will cover several case studies, focusing on the teams response to some of the more sophisticated attacks.

Bio: Mat Henley and Chad Greene are both Directors in Facebook’s Security Team. Among their responsibilities are incident response, product security, and attribution and enforcement work. Prior to joining Facebook four years ago, they both held similar roles at eBay and Paypal.

Organizer note: The Fire Eye talk in March also discussed sophisticated attacks on high-value companies and gave some case studies of APTs (from the perspective of how an anti-malware organization detects and characterizes APTs). This talk by Facebook will take an internal, incident-response team perspective of how large companies respond to APTs and other sophisticated attacks. Ultimately, we hope the twin combination of these talks, one focusing on the detection and analysis process and the other focusing on the response process, provides illuminating insights into modern cyber attacks on corporations and other large organizations.
